Public Relations Intern

Full Plate Publicity, a small public relations firm handling busy clients, is looking for an intern interested in learning all aspects of the public relations field. The intern who fills this position should expect to learn the field from top to bottom, and will complete graduate from this program ready to enter any fast-paced public relations firm with excellent skills. It’s essential that applicants to this position have excellent communication skills, demonstrate creativity, and understand the importance of attending to even the smallest details.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor all forms of media
  • Schedule and coordinate speaking engagements, appearances, photo shoots, and other special events
  • Write press releases and other materials
  • Conduct follow up phone calls
  • Assist with mailings, print production
  • Create interview preparation materials
  • Compile contact lists
  • Search for press clippings
  • Create or update databases
  • Comfortable interviewing sources, especially on camera

Requirements

Students applying for this internship must have strong communication skills and should be majoring in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing or Journalism. Applicants should also have strong writing skills, as well as a solid understanding of social media. Only interns proficient with Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications, with phone and Internet connection should apply. An interest in the travel, hospitality, culinary and luxury lifestyle industries is necessary.

Region’s Top PR Minds Fill the Program for PRxNE

2016-logo-squareBoston (May 3, 2016) – As the PRSA (Public Relations Society of America) Northeast District’s annual conference draws closer, final programming details are being confirmed and ticket sales are going strong. “Relationships + Reinvention: How PR is Leading the New Marketing Mix” is being designed by and for leaders on the forefront of pressing topics within the profession. The Conference will be held in Boston on June 13, 2016 at University of Massachusetts Boston.

The conference will host more than 250 distinguished panelists and speakers, and include academics, business leaders, inventors, journalists, and attorneys. Keynote speakers include Carol Cone of ON PURPOSE, and Christopher S. Penn, vice president of Marketing Technology at SHIFT Communications, co-founder of PodCamp New Media Community Conference, co-host of Marketing Over Coffee podcast, and adjunct professor of Internet Marketing and the lead subject matter expert and professor of Advanced Social Media at the University of San Francisco. Conference coordinators are also working to finalize a panel discussion with some of the region’s leading political reporters to talk about the challenges of covering politics and how media coverage has evolved, especially with the growth of digital media.
